There was once a popular belief that the currently airing KR series, KR Gaim, will be very much similar to KR Ryuki series. Well if you're a hardcore KR fans like me, you can't just ignore the similarities: The characters, the number of riders, the rider-wars thingy... If you noticed, even the main weapons of the main Riders are of the same type! (see pictures above)
However, the writer of Gaim series, Gen Urobuchi, revealed that despite being a fan of KR Ryuki series, he did not take inspiration from KR Ryuki in plotting KR Gaim storyline. I'm just glad that the producer chose Gen as the main writer for this series because he really did a good job. Besides breaking the 2-episodes-per-arc tradition (which started to get boring after KR OOO) of the Neo-Heisei KR series , he even added his dark-themed and tragic style into KR Gaim! For me, this is certainly a breakthrough for KR series and I REALLY LIKE IT! Let's hope that Toei will maintain our talented Gen as the main writer for the following rider series :D
